Dear Nippers Families
The active Nippers program is now complete and next Sunday is our special Nippers Presentation Day. Below you’ll find out how the Nippers Presentation Day works, a farewell to the Mighty 11s, and our last Championship News for the year.
Nippers Presentation Day this Sunday
It’s an important ceremony to complete the season and it’s a tradition in the Nippers community. For those who haven’t attended before here’s what to expect.
How and where to do we assemble?
You’ll need to assemble with your age group on the sand just south of the Beach Club at 8.50am ready to the start at 9am. Take your age lollipop sign and set up in rows facing the grass. We’ll have the little kids at the front closest to the grass and the bigger kids at the back.
What to do we wear?
The Crew and the Nippers should be in regular Nippers kit just like any other Nippers Sunday.
What happens?
· All the Nippers are presented with special commemorative attendance medals. Those Nippers lucky enough to win a championship award or age group award are presented with their awards. The Bronzies are also recognized, awarded and congratulated.
· Key supporters of the Nippers program like the Balmoral Beach Club, Ray White Lower North Shore and Blockbuster are recognized and thanked for their contribution.
· You the crew are recognized and thanked for the outstanding work you do each week to make Nippers happen.
· After the presentations you are welcome to join us for a special sausage sizzle in the Courtyard of the Beach club.
Aloha to the mighty 11s
Farewell to this year’s 11s: from the Nippers crew, we hope you have enjoyed your years as Nippers. We know some of you have gone all the way through from 4s (although you may not remember it!) and would say only that if you aren’t already doing so, you might consider returning for the Bronze course next year or think about continuing with surf lifesaving over at any of the other beaches nearby such as Freshwater or Queenscliff. So it’s goodbye or maybe hello next season.
Championship
Results from the Ironman are now available and as such the Championship season is now over. We’d like to take the opportunity to thank everyone who has helped out in any way – without your help and encouragement we couldn’t make it safe for the kids and wouldn’t be able to encourage so many to give it a go.
All up 252 kids gave it a go this year vs 214 last year. Thank you also to all parents for their enthusiasm and to all the kids for their fantastic sportsmanship, big hearts and for all the smiles. We aim to set a reasonably hard course and some of the greatest efforts have been by those kids who don’t get into the points, but who come back week after week to challenge themselves – well done to all of you!
And finally, very big congratulations to a select group who did every one of the 13 championships and gave it their all week in week out regardless of whether or not they got into the top 10:
